Is the Nintendo Wii appropriate for a seven year old?
I have two nephews, seven and four. The seven year old is intelligent and advanced. For the Holidays, I thought about buying him the Nintendo Wii. Is it too old for him? Regarding the younger boy, are there games for kids that are about five? Games both kids could enjoy? Should I just wait til next year?

I think is just about the perfect age! brbrAge is a bit young for MOST of the games, but we play the Wii game quotLego Star Wars The Complete Sagaquot with our year old grandsonfirst time we played it with him, he played for hours solid, we could hardly get him to stop long enough to eat or use the bathroom! Its his favorite game! He had no problem learning the game, of course, Star Wars is also his favorite movie. brbrIt would actually be a good game that he could play with his brother. Our grandson also plays it with our year old nephewits his favorite game too. The players dont compete against each other, they play together as a team, defeating Imperial forces using lightsabers, blasters, flying jet fighter planes to battle Imperial Walkers, etc. The game progresses through all Star Wars movies and covers major battle scenes from each. Its great fun for children of ALL ages. Lots of puzzles that you solve using the quotforcequot that are fairly easy to figure outquite funny too, filled with unexpected humor. For example, after solving a certain puzzle, all the chairs become animated and start dancing to the Star Wars theme. No real violence, I mean, yes, you do kill imperial forces, but theyre all just legos and break apart into little lego blocks. brbrAnother good game they could play together is quotMario Party quot. It plays like a child board game, where they each take turns moving around the game board, collecting stars, playing simple quotminigamesquot inbetween each round. The reason this is a good game for mixed age groups is because although they compete against each other, a certain amount of quotluckquot is built into the game, basically quotleveling the playing fieldquot, so younger, inexperienced players stand a good fighting chance of winning, even against much older experienced players. brbrThe other party games such as quotRaving Rabbidsquot, quotSuper Monkey Ball, etc. well yes for the year old, but probably quotno way on Gods green earthquot for the year old. quotWarioware Smooth Movesquot is really a great party game, but geared more for teens and older playersrequires a certain level of coordination younger players might find difficult to master. quotSuper Mario Galaxyquot is incredible! But younger players might find it somewhat disorienting and again, requires a higher degree of coordination. Id wait on those until they mastered the simplier ones. brbrEnjoy!
