I want to keep the plastic on my cell phone but the sales clerk said no!?

I want to keep the plastic on my cell phone but the sales clerk said no!?
I bought a new cell phone and wish to keep the plastic on it to protect it from minor scratches. The clerk at verizon said no because it will hurt the phone. I was curious has anyone had that problem with their phone. They dont sell the scratch sheets for my phone so this is the only thing I can think of that would keep it looking nice. Any advice?

I work for a cellular provider and that is pure rubbish. Keeping the plastic on the facescreen will not impair the performance or damage the phone in any way. Dont listen to that guy....clearly a rookie.
